Rodolphe De Koninck

Rodolphe De Koninck is Professor Emeritus at the Université de Montréal (UDM). From 1970 to 2002 he taught at Université Laval and from 2002 to 2016 at UDM, where he held the Canada Research Chair in Asian Studies. Most of his teaching, re-search and research directions as well as his publications concern regional geography and territoriality, in particular agrarian and environmental issues in Southeast Asia. He is the author or co-author of 23 books and some 200 scientific articles. His books include: Les Cent-Îles du Lac Saint-Pierre (1970); Agricultural Modernization, Poverty and Inequality (with D.S. Gibbons and I. Hasan, 1980); Malay Peasants Coping with the World (1992), Le recul de la forêt au Viet Nam (1997), Malaysia, la dualité terri-toriale (2007), Profession géographe (2008), Gambling with the Land (with J.-F. Rousseau, 2012), (Singapore's Permanent Territorial Revolution (2017) and Southeast Asia (2019, 4th ed.).
